SAIKAI TOKI CO., LTO.

The Kodama family has been involved with ceramics in the town of Hasami, Nagasaki prefecture, for generations. In 1946, the former chairman Kaoru Kodama began selling ceramic wares from a single cart. Eleven years later he established Saikai Toki Co., Ltd. as a general trading company for pottery from Hasami and throughout the entire Hizen area.
The company’s name references the Saikai Bridge, which was constructed around the same time, and embodies the idea of “forming a bridge between people and products with the aim of enriching lives”. This philosophy has extended beyond Japan with the establishment of group companies in Singapore, the United States, China and Europe, introducing Hasami ware and other tableware to the world.
